It’s not a huge shocker that Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone won, what with being a world-wide phenomenon and everything. Plus, who wouldn’t want to go to Hogwarts??? So congratulations to me, myself, and I. 😛

Calendar Girls Book Chat

On Sunday September 16 the Calendar Girls got together on twitter to talk about some of the things that make books set in school so relatable. As always you can check out the entire chat by searching the hashtag #CGBChat, or by following the links to the threads below.

Looking to October

calendar girls october

The October theme is Hocus Pocus: Best Book with Witches.

I think this is going to be a fun one, and I think we’re going to see a lot of variety. Personally I love witches, but I’v read too few books about them, so I’m looking forward to adding some to my tbr!

Our October schedule is:

  • Monday October 1st – Calendar Girls October Posts (don’t forget to link back to me and Adrienne!)
  • Sunday October 7th – Voting ends for the November theme (you can still vote HERE!)
  • Monday October 8th – Adrienne and I will announce the October theme
  • Sunday October 21st – #CGBChat at 8 EST
  • Monday October 29th – October Wrap-Up
  • Wednesday October 31st – HALLOWEEEEEEEEEEN!!!!!

Thanks for a great month everyone! Thanks to Adrienne for being an AMAZING co-host, and thanks to everyone who participated. You guys have no idea how much I love Calendar Girls and how much I love this community. Even though starting school has been rough and finding time to blog has been HARD, nothing could make me give it up because y’all are AMAZING.

Calendar Girls is a monthly blog event created by Melanie at MNBernard Books, and Flavia at Flavia the Bibliophile, and is now be hosted by me (!), Katie and Adrienne at Darque Dreamer Reads. It is designed to ignite bookish discussions among readers, and was inspired by the 1961 Neil Sedaka song, Calendar Girl.

Just like the song, each month has a different theme. Each blogger picks their favorite book from the theme, and on the first Monday of the month reveals their pick in a Calendar Girls post. Make sure to post back to the hostess’s post, and I will make a master list for the month. The master lists allow everyone to see the other Calendar Girls’ picks and to pop on over to their blogs. Thus, we all get to chat about books and even make some new friends!

  1. Hey, Katie! I’m Vinny and I’m blogging over ArtsyDraft.com. This is such an interesting meme! I just featured this meme on my blogging meme & link-ups directory. I hope you don’t mind! But if you do, please let me know! 🙂 x

    1. We would love to have you!

No sign up link. Just on Oct 1 find my post or Adrienne’s (both is best!) And put a link to them in your blog. For wordpress users it automatically gives us a notification so we can link to you. If you want to be extra cautious, you can leave us a link to your post in the comments of ours.
