Calendar Girls March Wrap-Up

Is March over already? Gosh, if Febrary was slow, March was lightning quick! It’s been a great month celebrating women, especially strong women, in books. I’ll be honest, y’all surprised me with some of your choices, but definitely in a good way!

Our Favorite Pick is…

Wow! I’ll be honest now, I am SO EXCITED that I am Malala was the winner! I love that Ashley had the courage to pick a real actual person, and I’m super thankful y’all thought so too. Congrats to Ashley on picking the winning book, but I think we can agree that this month we are all the winners for having a woman like Malala in our world.

Calendar Girls Book Chat

I am still really enjoying our new asynchronous chat format! We don’t have to worry about carving time out to have a big long chat, and if you can’t do one day you can still jump in the next. I would love to see more people participating, so if you’re on twitter maybe think about joining us next month! If you’re not, we’re open to suggestions for other ways to host the chat. 🙂

To catch up on the chat you can follow #CGBchat or click on the tweets below to see the whole thread.

Calendar Girls April

The April theme is April Fools: Favorite Book with a Surprise Ending or Twist. YOU GUYS. This is one of my favorite things that can happen in a book. The only difficultly will be picking just ONE. I can’t wait to hear y’all’s choices!

Our Aril schedule is:

  • Monday April 1st – Calendar Girls April Posts (don’t forget to link back to me and Adrienne!)
  • Sunday April 7th – Voting ends for the May theme (you can still vote HERE!)
  • Monday April 8th – Adrienne and I will announce the April theme
  • Monday April 22nd – Friday March 26th – #CGBChat
  • Monday April 29th – April Wrap-Up

Thanks once again to all who participated. If you’ve never participated before but you’re always reading these posts, we would LOVE to have you! Check out some of this month’s posts and you can see just how easy it is! Calendar Girls is one of my favorite things I do each month, and I know you’ll have a great time too. 🙂

Calendar Girls is a monthly blog event created by Melanie at MNBernard Books, and Flavia at Flavia the Bibliophile, and is now be hosted by me (!), Katie, and Adrienne at Darque Dreamer Reads. It is designed to ignite bookish discussions among readers, and was inspired by the 1961 Neil Sedaka song, Calendar Girl.

Just like the song, each month has a different theme. Each blogger picks their favorite book from the theme, and on the first Monday of the month reveals their pick in a Calendar Girls post. Make sure to post back to the hostess’s post, and I will make a master list for the month. The master lists allow everyone to see the other Calendar Girls’ picks and to pop on over to their blogs. Thus, we all get to chat about books and even make some new friends!
