Calendar Girls June Wrap-Up

So June is almost over. Can it not be? June is like, the best. We’ve had a great month celebrating Pride! It’s been a real joy talking to you all about representation and why it matters. ❀

Pride: Favorite Book with LGBTQ+ Representation

The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet – Katie (that’s me!) @ Never Not Reading
Chasing Nirvana – Adrienne @ Darque Dreamer Reads
The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue – Deanna@ Deanna Writes About
The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue – Flavia @ Flavia the Bibliophile
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo – Samantha @ Modern Witch’s Bookshelf
Women – Lucinda @ Lucinda is Reading
History is All You Left Me – Ashley @ Inside My Minds
Stop! – Sophie @ Beware of the Reader
Seven Blades in Black – Dani @ Mousai Books
Girls of Paper and Fire – Clarissa @ Clarissa Reads it All

Our Favorite Pick Is…

Wow, it was close this month, with A Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue coming in only a single vote behind. But it’s not surprise to see Evelyn Hugo getting some love as it much SUCH a splash in the blogging community back in 2017. It was one of my personal top three reads that year. Congrats to Samantha for picking the winning book, but I think we can agree we are all winners for this book existing. πŸ˜‰

Calendar Girls July

For July we’re talking about our favorite couples in all of literature! How am I going to pick??? Jk, I’ve had the same OTP since before I knew what an OTP was. I’m really looking to hear everyone’s answers to this one and (of course) to fangirl just a little. ❀

Our July schedule is:

  • Monday July 1 – Calendar Girls July Posts (don’t forget to link back to me and Adrienne!)
  • Monday July 8 – Adrienne and I will announce the August theme
  • Monday July 22 – Friday July26 – #CGBChat
  • Monday July 29 – July Wrap-Up

Thanks again to everyone who participates each and every month! I’ve you’ve made it to the bottom of this post and you are still reading, first of all congratulations. Second, would you consider joining us next week? We would love to have you!

Calendar Girls is a monthly blog event created by Melanie at MNBernard Books, and Flavia at Flavia the Bibliophile, and is now be hosted by me (!), Katie, and Adrienne at Darque Dreamer Reads. It is designed to ignite bookish discussions among readers, and was inspired by the 1961 Neil Sedaka song, Calendar Girl.

Just like the song, each month has a different theme. Each blogger picks their favorite book from the theme, and on the first Monday of the month reveals their pick in a Calendar Girls post. Make sure to post back to the hostess’s post, and I will make a master list for the month. The master lists allow everyone to see the other Calendar Girls’ picks and to pop on over to their blogs. Thus, we all get to chat about books and even make some new friends!
