A.K.A. me gushing about my favorite fantasy novels
Don’t look now, but I’m actually doing a tag I’ve been tagged for. *gasp!*
Dani at Mousai Books tagged me for this one back in June, and honestly I had plum forgotten about it until I was going through my list today. It appears as though it’s a rapid-fire, don’t-think-too-hard-about-your-answers sort of tag, which should be great fun! If you don’t follow Dani you should, because she writes EXCELLENT reviews. 🙂
- Thank the person who tagged you and link back to their post
- Link to the creator’s blog (thebookwormdreamer.wordpress.com) in your post
- Answer the prompts below – all fantasy books!
- Tag 5 others to take part
City of Brass! Y’all, if you haven’t read the Daevabad books you NEED TO!!! And book three is coming out soooooon. This series is so unique, and there’s so much juicy court drama. I love how it presents different perspectives, especially in regards to religion. Plus it’s SO FREAKING EXCITING.
Always Going to Recommend
I will always and forever recommend The Night Circus. It’s everything. Romantic, magical, atmospheric, whimsical. This is everything I love in a book, and Erin Morgenstern is a freaking genius.
Own It But Haven’t Read
After I fell in love with The Goblin Emperor (talk about a 5-star book! *swoons*), my husband bought me Mélusine by the same author. But I just am not interested? I don’t know, I’ll probably read it at some point in my life, but I’ve got a long list of fantasy must-reads to get to first.
Would Read it Again
SOOOOOO many. But on my tbr for this month is a re-read of Uprooted by Naomi Novik. YAY! This is another one of those a-freaking-mazing books that I am always and forever recommending. Naomi Novik is one of my favorite fantasy novels, and this is probably her best. At the very least, it’s her most critically acclaimed. I love the dark fairy-tale feel of the magic. READ IT!
In Another World
All of them? Isn’t that … kind of the point? I read a lot of high fantasy, lol.
I’m going with Dragonflight, the first in the Dragon Riders of Pern series, since it is quite literally on a different planet. Not that you know that from Dragonflight, I gather you figure it out much later on in the series, but literally people went to space and landed on Pern and took over their dragons. So, wins all around! Loved this book, so unique.
Back on Earth
Harry Potter is obviously a beloved favorite of mine. I’m actually reading it to my class right now, and it’s their favorite part of the day. Every time I close it their like “What?! Read more!” J.K. Rowling did so much (and is still doing so much) for helping kids learn to love reading. It’s not every day a series comes along that you can re-read dozens of times and never get tired of it. ❤
Not too many people because I’m going to try mostly tag people who I know read plenty of fantasy. So I’m tagging:
- The Warden’s Walk
- The Orangutan Librarian
- Naty’s Bookshelf
- The Tattooed Book Geek
- The Literary Phoenix
- Book Beach Bunny
- Joelendil’s Kingdom of Books
- YOU if you want to!
Okay, that was kind of a lot. *shrugs*
