Calendar Girls December Theme

Is anyone else’s family starting to ask about Christmas lists? Like, I haven’t even started thinking about Thanksgiving yet, and all of the sudden people want to know what I (and my kids) want for Christmas. What if my kid suddenly discovers he’s obsessed with something new 1 month out like he did with Halloween?!

Anyway, it’s almost December! So we’re here ready to go with our December theme. Y’all, this was no contest. Which, when you consider the current book blogging climate, was really no surprise. So, here it is! The December theme!

Best Diverse Cast

I know this phrase isn’t as trendy as it was ten years ago, but whatevs people still say it. And y’all get the deal. What I really like about this theme is it allows you to interpret diversity in whatever way is meaningful to you. Racial or ethnic representation, LGBTQ diversity, neurodiversity, whatever you’re passionate about we want to read it too!

If you’ve never participated in Calendar Girls before, this is the perfect time to start! All you have to do is write a short post (or long!) telling us what book you picked and why. Then, link back to my post or Adrienne’s so we can link up with you and everyone can read, like, comment, subscribe, etc.

As long as you’re here, voting is open for the January theme! (God, I don’t even want to think about January…) Go ahead and vote now so you don’t have to worry about remembering!

Calendar Girls is a monthly blog event created by Melanie at MNBernard Books, and Flavia at Flavia the Bibliophile, and is now be hosted by me (!), Katie, and Adrienne at Darque Dreamer Reads. It is designed to ignite bookish discussions among readers, and was inspired by the 1961 Neil Sedaka song, Calendar Girl.

Just like the song, each month has a different theme. Each blogger picks their favorite book from the theme, and on the first Monday of the month reveals their pick in a Calendar Girls post. Make sure to post back to the hostess’s post, and I will make a master list for the month. The master lists allow everyone to see the other Calendar Girls’ picks and to pop on over to their blogs. Thus, we all get to chat about books and even make some new friends!
