Goodbye Calendar Girls

Many of you may have noticed that we didn’t do a post voting on picks for the January theme. Probably the same people noticed that participation has dropped off in the last few months. I think some of this is because all us bloggers are leading very busy lives at the moment. Many of us are in school, changing jobs, getting married, or any number of other things that give us less time for blogging. And Adrienne and I have both been relatively absent from the blogging world in the last few months, which I think is part of the reason. We haven’t had the time or energy to devote to Calendar Girls like we used to.

So it is with a very heavy heart that we say goodbye. Hopefully not forever! But I’m really going to miss this monthly event. It’s been one of my favorite things to look forward to each month for almost as long as I’ve been blogging. So whether this is just a break or a forever change, it’s hard to say goodbye.

So to all of those who have participated for the last 17 months, THANK YOU! It has been such a joy. Flavia, thanks for getting us started a whopping three years ago (can you believe it???), along with Melanie if she happens to see this. It’s been great.

Love you awesome nerds.

Calendar Girls is a monthly blog event created by Melanie at MNBernard Books, and Flavia at Flavia the Bibliophile, and is now be hosted by me (!), Katie, and Adrienne at Darque Dreamer Reads. It is designed to ignite bookish discussions among readers, and was inspired by the 1961 Neil Sedaka song, Calendar Girl.

Just like the song, each month has a different theme. Each blogger picks their favorite book from the theme, and on the first Monday of the month reveals their pick in a Calendar Girls post. Make sure to post back to the hostess’s post, and I will make a master list for the month. The master lists allow everyone to see the other Calendar Girls’ picks and to pop on over to their blogs. Thus, we all get to chat about books and even make some new friends!
