Bookworms rejoice! These charming comics capture exactly what it feels like to be head-over-heels for hardcovers. And paperbacks! And ebooks! And bookstores! And libraries!
Book Love is a gift book of comics tailor-made for tea-sipping, spine-sniffing, book-hoarding bibliophiles. Debbie Tung’s comics are humorous and instantly recognizable—making readers laugh while precisely conveying the thoughts and habits of book nerds. Book Love is the ideal gift to let a book lover know they’re understood and appreciated.
This is a very sweet book that is a collection of comics drawn by Debbie Tung on her tumblr. I should clarify that I mean comics as in web-comics or comic strips, NOT as in a comic book. Typically one page covers one day, although the occasional longer two-page comic is included.
It’s amazing how well Tung captured book bloggers. I can’t recommend this book highly enough to anyone reading this. It’s so charming, and funny, and so dang RELATABLE. It’s called Book Love because it’s about how much we all love our books. The art is just the right amount of cute, and I personally really loved her cartoon style. The black and white was so vibrant, and there’s really a great depth of color used even in grey-scale. The full page illustrations when they come are just lovely.
The only critique I have of this little book is that every single character is white. That … should have been easy to avoid in 2019.
This little book was such a joy to read. Perfect for keeping on a coffee table or bedside table, just to look at a frame every so often. It’ll make you feel so warm and fuzzy inside.
