I’m *almost* caught up on the tags I was tagged in a million years ago! Whitney from Whit Reads Lit tagged me in this tag back in February. I’ve been reading a lot lately, so this should be interesting!
How many books do you usually read at once?

I actually wrote a post all about this lately, because I used to only read one book at a time, but in the last few years I’ve been intentionally opening up to the idea of reading more and more books at once. At that time I was reading 5 or 6 at any given time, but since school started back up I’m down to 4.
- Main fiction read
- Middle-grade book
- An anti-racist non-fiction title
- A chapter book I’m reading aloud to my five-year-old
How do you decide when to switch between multiple reads?
Hm, well I don’t really have to “decide”. I read one chapter a day to my five-year-old and one chapter a day of my anti-racist book. I read 50ish pages a day of my middle-grade book. Everything else is for my “main” read. 🙂
Do you ever switch bookmarks partway through a book?

Um, I only have one bookmark. The only reason I can see myself doing that would be if I lost my bookmark in the middle of the book. Which, since I’m using mostly trash for bookmarks right now, has happened a couple of times, lol.
What time of day do you read the most?
On the weekends or during vacation I’ll read all day long, but during the week I mostly read in the evening after work.
How long do you typically read in one session?
As a mother of two it is very unusual for me to get a large chunk of time to read without being interrupted. Mostly I have to read in short bursts, half an hour or less. I can read for longer after the kids go to bed, but not much longer because I go to bed early.
Do you read hardcovers with the dust jacket off?

I never used to, but lately I have been almost always reading sans-jacket. The jackets just seem to fall off when I’m reading! I guess a looser fitting dust jacket is just the style right now? But I read a lot of library books, so obviously I can’t take the dust jacket off them, lol.
What position do you mainly use to read?
I don’t understand this question. Do people read in yoga positions? I usually just … sit.
Do you take your current read with you everywhere you go?

Yes! I have a compartment in my purse that a paperback fits in perfectly, and most hardbacks will fit too. It’s perfect for taking my book with me everywhere! But even if I’m reading a big ol’ book that won’t fit, I’ll still take it with me and leave it in the car.
How often do you update your Goodreads reading progress.
When I finish a book only. I don’t do the thing where I keep track of how many pages I’ve read and update daily or hourly. I feel like nobody I know on Goodreads cares? I usually update my progress and write a review within a day or so of finishing the book, and that’s about it.
I tag:
- The Orangutan Librarian
- Sha & Mandy
- Alex
- Anyone interested!
Thanks for the tag! I also bring books with me wherever I go 🤣 I love that you have a spot in your purse for books!

Ahh I also tend to read with the dust jacket off now, it’s just so much more practical, otherwise it keeps falling off and it bothers me to no end ahah. Loved reading this! 😀

It’s so weird because this never used to be a problem for me!!

Ohh really, that is a bit weird ahah! I always had an issue keeping them on while reading, I just, can’t ahah.

Oh yay! I’m glad you did the tag! I love that you have a designated spot in your purse for books – that is genius 🙂

Haha, when the purse in the picture died and I had to buy a new one, my *only* requirement was that it also had to have a book compartment. Once you have one you can never go back!

I wasn’t aware that people change bookmarks in the middle of books – I usually don’t either, but sometimes I have to because my cat has the habit of pulling mine out of the book 😅

I also had no idea this was a thing. As I never have more than one bookmark at any given time (I *always* lose them) this is a non-option for me, lol.

What a fun tag you have here!! I try to read a non fiction every week whether its a book on my faith, history, philosophy or politics— I just love learning more about things.
I can’t imagine how difficult it is to read with two children.

I’m a pretty good distracted reader (I credit twelve years of daycare), so it’s not so bad for me. But juggling four books would probably be easier child-less.

I guess for the reading position I would say that I sit curled up in my armchair, or lying in bed…? I’m not really a “traditional” sit position person!! 😂

I can’t read lying in bed. I get tired of holding the book up because I have 0% muscle mass in my arms, haha.

Valid!! I usually lie on my side or pushed up on my front because books are heavy!! 😂

I’ll read sitting up in bed, but reading on my side is a no-go for me. My arms and legs fall asleep.

This tag is fun. Reading hardcover with dust jacket off makes sense. I’m usually read 1 book at times as I find it hard to switch to totally different story. I’m at home since lock down so there isn’t a need to carry book anywhere for me.

It’s been an adjustment going back to actually using my purse since I went back to work three weeks ago. 9 times out of 10 when I can’t find my phone it’s because it’s still in my purse.
