The Productivity Book Tag

YOU GUYS. I am ALMOST caught up on my tags. I only have two left, and one of them is the summer bucket list challenge or something, so it’s probably going to have to wait until next summer anyway. I CAN DO THIS!!!

Whew. Okay.

Meeghan at Meeghan Reads tagged me in this one back in July. I’m not sure what inspired it, and lets be honest, it’s an unusual theme, but as someone who is SUPER into productivity I am not going to complain. Let’s get this show on the road! (And go follow Meeghan if you don’t because she’s the bomb dot com!)

Rules

  • Answer the prompts
  • Tag some friends
  • Link back to this post, and be sure to mention the creator (Sam @ Fictionally Sam)
  • Have fun!

Planning – A book that is completely thought out

There are a couple that would fit nicely here (Harry Potter, anyone?), but I just finished re-reading World War Z for the first time, and I was blown away by how well Max Brooks thought the whole thing through. Like, things most people would never even THINK about were fleshed out in detail! Military strategy, virus spreading, cultural impact, whiteout effect. It’s all there. This book is brilliant, and I don’t even like zombies. Definitely a must-read monster book!

ReRead, ReWrite, Burn Tag

Oooo goody, a chance for me to have an unpopular opinion! Yay!!!

So I saw this tag on Modern Witch’s Bookshelf back in June, and I’ve been wanting to do it ever since. Even though I’m doing a tag every week, I’m still so backed up… Whatever not the point. The point is, I’m really excited to talk about some of the books I’ve read this year, though I doubt I would actually burn any of them. LET’S DO THIS!

Also, go follow Samantha from Modern Witch’s Bookshelf if you don’t. She’s the bestest.

Rules

  • Randomly choose 3 books
  • For each group, decide which book to burn, which one to rewrite, and which to reread (like Marry, Boff, Kill).
  • Repeat until you completed three rounds (or six) (or however many you want to do).

So I’m going with books I’ve read so far this year, and choosing them using a random number generator. Here we go! Wee!

Round One

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Carry On, The Eyre Affair

ReRead: I feel like it’s almost cheating on this one, because I’ve re-read Half-Blood Prince dozens of times, and will keep reading it for my whole life. It’s my second favorite Potter book, and I love how well Rowling balanced the light-hearted moments with the heavy themes.

ReWrite: I love Rainbow Rowell, and I love the way she writes, but for a fantasy book there really wasn’t enough adventure for my taste. I would love to re-do this one with a little more adventuring and a little fewer whiteboards.

Burn: I don’t want to burn The Eyre Affair, but it just sort of got the short end of the stick here. I want to reread it less than HP, and I definitely wouldn’t rewrite it. *shrug*

Quick Fire Fantasy Tag

A.K.A. me gushing about my favorite fantasy novels

Don’t look now, but I’m actually doing a tag I’ve been tagged for. *gasp!*

Dani at Mousai Books tagged me for this one back in June, and honestly I had plum forgotten about it until I was going through my list today. It appears as though it’s a rapid-fire, don’t-think-too-hard-about-your-answers sort of tag, which should be great fun! If you don’t follow Dani you should, because she writes EXCELLENT reviews. 🙂

The Rules

  • Thank the person who tagged you and link back to their post
  • Link to the creator’s blog (thebookwormdreamer.wordpress.com) in your post
  • Answer the prompts below – all fantasy books!
  • Tag 5 others to take part
  • Enjoy!

5-Star Book

City of Brass! Y’all, if you haven’t read the Daevabad books you NEED TO!!! And book three is coming out soooooon. This series is so unique, and there’s so much juicy court drama. I love how it presents different perspectives, especially in regards to religion. Plus it’s SO FREAKING EXCITING.

The Bookish Adventure Tag

Mandy and Shea from Book Princess Reviews has tagged me in a lot of tags in the past few months, and I don’t think I’ve done any of them… *shame face* In fact, in this tag which I am getting from Mandy, I wasn’t actually tagged! So why am I doing it now? I don’t know, it’s at the top of my list. *shrug* If you aren’t following Mandy and Shea at Book Princess Reviews, you need to, go.

Rules

magine that you are an intrepid literary adventurer- braving the harsh bookish wilderness, traversing jungles of pages and slashing through vines of words. Where in the vast world of books would you go?

  • Write about one place mentioned in a book you wish you could visit and why.
  • List 3-5 things that you would do there.
  • Mention which souvenirs, if any, you would bring back with you.
  • Then tag some more literary explorers and please link back to the creator (Umairah @ Sereadipity) so I can see all of your adventures!

My Bookish Destination

Hogwarts, obviously. It’s literally the most magical place in the world, and I want to be there and make friends and learn to do magic and have a pet cat and just be a witch. *sigh*

Do I Have That Book? Tag

I saw this tag on Kristin Kraves Books forever ago. She always does the most interesting tags! She didn’t tag me, but it was just such an interesting post that I saved it! And then … never got to it. So here we are! This should be interesting because I have a lot of books, but not that much variety. Well, let’s see what happens, shall we?

1. Do you have a book with deckled edges?

Oh, thousands. The first one that comes to mind is Eragon, which I was absolutely obsessed with in high school. Personally I’m not that in to deckled edges (GASP!). I like to play with the pages while I read, and that’s a lot harder to do with deckled edges. But I’m not going to complain about them either.

Tag: Books That I’ll [Probably] Never Read

Hello everybody! I’ve got about a bazillion and a half book tags in my bookmarks bar right now, so I’ll probably be bringing you a tag a week for a bit. I don’t know why I still enjoy doing tag posts so much, but I just do. 🙂

I saw this one back in March on The Tin Kitchen, and since I’ve been going through a bit of an existential crisis regarding all of the books I will never get to read (*pauses for a round of sobbing*) I immediately connected with it and decided to save it for a rainy day. That rainy day never came, but I’m going with it anyway!

P.S. If you don’t follow Katie at The Tin Kitchen, I highly recommend you do, she has a great voice and always has thoughtful things to say.

A really hyped book that you’re not interested in reading

Guys, I’m sure that The Poppy War is just brilliant, but I have no intention of reading it. I’ve seen a lot of content warnings, and that’s just not for me most of the time. I’d rather cuddle up with something G-rated.

My Good Reading Habits Tag

So my good blogging friend The Orangutan Librarian tagged me in this one something like three months ago. *shuffles feet guiltily*

Anyway, as book bloggers we seem to be always talking about our bad reading habits, I thought it would be a nice change of pace to see some positivity around here!

1. Using bookmarks

I don’t dog-ear pages! (Even worse, my husband sometimes uses the flaps of the dust jackets to mark his pages! *shudders*) I almost always have a bookmark on hand, and if I don’t I will use a receipt or a piece of string or SOMETHING.

The Wonderstruck Book Tag

Confession time: I’m a Swiftie!. After I graduated from college I listened to Speak Now basically on loop. I have all of her albums memorized beginning to end. Except for the newest one… Reputation. Not as much my thing.

So a T-Swift book tag??? YES PLEASE! When I saw this on Hammock of Books I knew I had to do it.

RULES

  • Link back to the creator: Olivia from Purely Olivia
  • Answer as many or as few of the questions as you’d like.
  • Feel free to use any of the graphics in her post.
  • Tag however many people you’d like at the end!

You’re Not Sorry

A book that unapologetically broke your heart

You guys are probably going to get tired of hearing me go on about Bel Canto by Ann Patchett, but it 100% qualifies for this question. I ugly cried for about 30 minutes after I finished reading it. In the best possible way. God, I am obsessed with this book.

Book Blogger Memory Challenge

I saw this challenge a couple of months ago on Kristin Kraves Books, and I was so intrigued! She always has the most interesting challenges and tags! Anyway, I bookmarked it for a rainy day because I’m always up for a good memory challenge. And it is, in fact, raining right now. So there you go!

Incidentally, was anyone else obsessed with Don’t Forget the Lyrics for the one season it was on? No, just me? Okay.

Rules: You must answer these questions without looking anything up on the internet and without looking at your bookshelves.

1. Name a book written by an author called Michael.

Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton.

Have not read it. In fact, had to look up how to spell Crichton! If I’m being honest, the only reason I even know Michael Crichton’s name was from working at a bookstore. These days Jurassic Park has a very distinctive white cover with red text, so it was always catching my eye whenever I walked past.

Soul Ripping Romance Tag

Way back around Valentines Day The Orangutan Librarian tagged me in this very simple yet obviously-I-have-to-do-it tag. If you aren’t following The Orangutan Librarian yet, you are seriously missing out and you need to go fix it NOW. That being said, you are probably going to see a lot of the same things in this tag, because we are too much alike considering we are, in fact, not even from the same species.

The Rules

  • Thank the person who tagged you and create a pingback to the original author – Nel at Reactionary Tales.
  • Share at least 5 (but more are welcome) romances that tugged your heart strings. They can be from books, movies, TV shows, manga; anything you can think of! They can be examples of sad tears, angry tears, happy tears or a combination of all three.
  • Nominate 5 (or more) people to share their emotional traumas
  • (Note: Try not to spoil the story for your readers in case they would like to check out these romances on their own)

My Favorite Romances

Ron and Hermione

My OTP. Forever. I will fight you to the death on this one, especially if you’re going to try tell me that Hermione aught to have ended up with Harry. Or if you are going to tell me that Harry Potter is horrible.
