Calendar Girls July Theme

Do we have to talk about July? I don’t even want to think about July. I have so many assignments/projects due between now and July… *faints*

Possibly I should be working on those projects now instead of blogging… *shrugs* OH WELL! Here we go!

Even though I am not looking forward to July, I am quite looking forward to our July theme! The votes are in, and since apparently I don’t want to think about any of this at all, let’s skip the intros and get right to it.

Drumroll please…

SUMMER VACATION SNITCHES!!!!!!

.

Hem. Excuse me. Let’s try get back to some semblance of decorum, please?

It’s no secret that teachers look forward to summer vacation just as much (probably more) than their students do. Personally my favorite part of summer vacation is not getting up at 5 AM, but spending time with my kids is a close second. And, obviously, reading a boat-load of books is always a highlight of my summer.

Over the years I’ve gotten into a few summer reading traditions.
1) Read a completed YA series that is *still* popular and that I’ve neglected
2) Read a book in the Lady Trent series
3) Catch up on new releases
4) Read at least 100 pages every day

While I’m a little bit of a mood reader, since I started using the library more I’ve had to start planning my tbr a little bit more in advanced. (I’ll write more about THAT this summer!) So I’ve already got a bit of a list. Plus I know what my YA series is going to be, plus a few other books that I know I want to get to. So here are, in absolutely no order whatsoever, some of the books I want to read this summer!

IT’S SUMMER VACATION!!!!!!

giphy

Being a teacher is rough, but I have to admit, summer vacation is an awesome perk. Don’t get me wrong, I’m probably going to be doing a lot of work this summer lesson planning and stuff, and I’m taking care of my sweet baby too, but it’s definitely going to be better than getting up early and going to work every day.

My plans for this summer include:

  • Reading
  • Getting back into excercising
  • Reading
  • Zoo trips on Mondays
  • Reading
  • Possible beach trip
  • Did I say reading?

Last summer I probably read about twenty books. And while I think I’ve got a little more on my plate this summer and won’t quite be able to manage that, I’m really looking forward to what I have coming up. Continue reading “My Summer Reading List”

Back to Work

Well, it’s officially August, and all of the teachers know what that means.

giphy (16)

I’m at a new school this year, so I’m both excited and soooooooo nervous. Going to a new school is almost as nerve wracking for a teacher as it is for a student, and for a lot of the same reasons. How will I remember everyone’s names? Who am I supposed to sit next to at Convocation? What if the other teachers don’t like me? What if I get a tough principle? Plus bonus scaries like What if the kids are the worst kids of all time?

But, for good or for worse, here I am, 6 AM in my fancy clothes, eating breakfast and trying to get the blogging in before I have to leave.
