YOU GUYS!!!!!!!
I mentioned in a post a few weeks ago that I had applied to Grad School but that the program was full. I was crossing my fingers that some people might choose the other university that offers the same degree and open up room for me, but I was pretty sure it wouldn’t happen and feeling down. But on Sunday morning I opened my email, and lo and behold! I AM ACCEPTED!
So. As of Monday I am officially enrolled for a degree in Library Science. I’m going to be a librarian!!!! I am over the moon about this for many, many reasons, too many to go into at length. But I must say to all of you:
Thank you.
It is this blog and the people in this community that really brought out my passion in books and made me realize that what I want to spend all day every day doing is sharing that love with kids. Being a teacher is great, but I don’t know that it’s right for me. Thanks to you all (and a real-life friend) I think I’ve discovered that a school library is a much better fit.
I’m nervous, and excited, and anxious, and OH MY GOODNESS I AGREED TO TEACH A NEW SUBJECT THIS YEAR BECAUSE I THOUGHT I WOULDN’T BE IN GRAD SCHOOL WHAT WAS I THINKING?!?!?!?!? and a million other emotions. (Gee, the frequent all-caps wasn’t any hint at that, was it?) One of the things I’m most nervous about is continuing to find time to read. (Again, I upped my goodreads goal because I thought I wouldn’t be in grad school. What if I miss it?????)
Therefore, effective immediately, I am dropping my posts per week from four to three. If three is too many I’ll drop to two. I’m kind of bummed about this, because I had what I felt was a nice mix of content going on, but it is what it is. So starting next week my post schedule will be:
Monday- Calendar Girls
Thursday – Review or Discussion
Sunday – Sorting Hat Sunday or Book Tags or Top 5-type Lists
Thanks for sticking with me guys. Wish me luck! I have no idea what to expect, but in a few years it will be so worth it!
Congratulations!!!

YASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS GIRL!!!! I am SOOOOOOO happy for you! It is going to be amazing! If you need ANYTHING please don’t hesitate to reach out. I only graduated from that program a year ago, so it is still pretty fresh- also, I still have about half of my textbooks… YAYYYYY! I have a feeling that this is the right path for you! Not surprisingly, even when I went through the program, there were SEVERAL former/current teachers who ultimately decided this was the correct route for them. EEEKK!! :]

Yeah, I’ve been in classes for all of three days, and it seems like there are a lot of teachers. I don’t know where you live, but I guess in Texas a school librarian certification has a requirement of 5 years teaching experience (I think, it might be 2, those numbers look the same to me, lol). So that’s probably why. But I agree, this FEELS right. And I’m SO EXCITED!!!
